The Golf Clubs
The golf clubs are the basic tools to play golf, are designed to hit the ball and divide into three groups: woods, irons and putter. Each is used in different situations, for long shots woods, irons for shock or intermediate approach and putter to hole the ball in the hole. The regulation allows the bag to carry 14 golf clubs, being formed typically by wood September 1 1, 3 and 5, from 3 to 9 irons, wedges PW, SW and LW, and putter.
Type
Consider the different types of golf clubs:
Woods: golf clubs are with that greater distance and are used for longer shots, such as going from the tee. Although his name is made of steel or titanium. The driver or wood 1 is the longer stick, powerful and difficult to use, the rest are called fairway woods.
Irons: used for intermediate or approach shots, and is distinguished by the angle, causing the ball to gain a higher or lower trajectory.
The irons are numbered 1 to 9, and angles ranging between 14 and 41.
For special moves or approach wedges are used, which makes it more prone pick up the ball and not run into the pot. We can distinguish between pitching wedge (45 °), gap wedge (50 °), sand wedge (55 °, used to exit the bunkers) and lob wedge (60 °).
Putter: golf clubs are used on the green to hole the ball in the hole.
Hybrids: golf clubs are intermediate between woods and irons, trying to get away from the wood and the ease of use of the irons. They come to replace the long irons 2, 3 and 4.
Features
Here are the different characteristics of golf clubs:
Head size: can be standard (small, easy to control but with a smaller sweet spot), medium (greater sweet spot than standard and more manageable than large sticks) and large (large sweet spot but difficult to control).
Blade: golf clubs can have steel rods (heavy but durable and easy to control) or graphite (expensive and lighter but with poor durability).
Flexibility: the bending of the rod may be Extra Stiff, Stiff, Uniflex (between Regular and Stiff), Regular, Senior and Ladies. Beginner golfers prefer golf clubs with more flexibility than experienced players.
