The circuit in Texas form part of MotoGP from 2013
The Motorcycling World Championship will travel from 2013 and for 10 years in Austin, Texas. Dorna Sports SL, 3FourTexasMGP, and Full Throttle Productions LLC have announced the signing of an agreement to hold during this period of time a new Grand Prix circuit in the Americas with three categories of the world from next year, MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 (250cc 4-stroke motorcycles, which will replace the current 125cc).
This agreement reinforces the presence Texan will layout engine in the world, as Formula 1 will also have an annual stop on a circuit that is currently under construction.
Carmelo Expeleta, head of Dorna Sports, was pleased with the agreement: “We are delighted to add the Tour of the Americas to the MotoGP calendar. It is an honor to expand the frontiers of our championship to Texas, which is a land historically known for producing World Championship riders. We had a wonderful relationship with Kevin (Schawantz) for twenty years and have always talked about a mutual dream to increase the popularity of MotoGP in the United States. Now, with what Tavo Hellmund (Full Throttle Productions) is doing in Austin, we successfully complete this adventure.”
The circuit construction is progressing satisfactorily and is expected to be completed by mid next year, just in time to host the first United States Grand Prix Formula 1.
