Larry Bird, the Celtics Legend

Born on 7 December 1956 in West Baden Springs, Indiana, Larry Bird is now one of the most legendary former basketball players who, with his 2.06 meters tall, stands in the history of the NBA, playing especially at small forward.

His career began at Indiana State University, where he lead his team to the NCAA final against the team which played the young Magic Johnson, at the University of Muchigan State. On the other hand won several awards for Best Player of the Year by the New Sporting Magazine or large Naismith Award, given annually to the best college player, male and female.

But his greatest glory came in the NBA Draft in 1978 when he was chosen by the Boston Celtics , who began by winning from the outset. By then, his college rival, Magic Johnson, went on to play with Los Angeles Lakers , who would be a big problem to get some titles.

However, Larry Bird went on to win 3 NBA championships (1981, 1984 and 1986), to be Rookie of the Year in the NBA in 1980, 3 MVP of the season, the gold medal in the Barcelona Olympics, and finally be Coach of the Year in the NBA in 1998.
